I met Mary while creating classes as instructor for mending and printmaking at her nonprofit, Spare Parts. I was aware of creative reuse stores, frequenting Austin's at the time, and deeply enjoyed my time at hers, as well as the wonderful folks who put their time and effort into the store. It was an honor to work with Mary, and I'd like to pass along some tiny bit of the friendliness, goodwill and opportunity that she had given me.
I've joined other artists such as Calder Kamin, Carlos Moreno, and Doerte Weber in pledging the proceeds of the sale of a work of our art in Mary's name to the organization of her choice- a scholarship fund in her honor to support graduating seniors from the Henry Ford Academy pursuing higher education. All of this sale, excluding shipping costs, will go to the school. Please email me through my contact page to purchase this work.
